Phish announce Shoreline show

PHISH ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL DATES FOR FIRST SUMMER TOUR IN FIVE YEARS

Local performance August 5th at Shoreline Amphitheatre

Tickets for Shoreline Go On Sale To General Public March 29th at Noon

Band Begins Recording New Album Next Month With Producer Steve Lillywhite

San Francisco, CA - Phish will extend its summer tour with 12 additional dates, including a local performance at Shoreline Amphitheater and a four-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, marking its first shows at the legendary venue in more than 13 years. The outing launches June 4th and will include performances on two separate days at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. An online ticket request period is currently underway for the newly announced shows at http://phish.portals.musictoday.com/. Tickets for Shoreline will go on sale to the general public beginning Sunday, March 29th at 12 Noon. Showtime for this performance is 7pm.

The announcement comes on the heels of the band’s three-night stand at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA last weekend. “Over a massive, four-hour set, guitarist Trey Anastasio, bassist Mike Gordon, drummer Jon Fishman and keyboardist Page McConnell ripped through dozens of crowd-favorites,” said rollingstone.com. “They kicked things off with some of their most compositionally complex tunes, from the knotted prog-funk of ‘Fluffhead’ to ‘Divided Sky,’ where the group’s quiet, mellifluous interplay of guitar, drums, bass and keys suggests they’re as well-oiled of a machine as they’ve ever been.”

The New York Times, which ran two features on the concerts, noted: “as the opening passage of the anthem ‘Fluffhead’ enveloped the room, the eruption of exultation was not merely for the band itself but also for the millions in the Phish diaspora who make up perhaps the most fervent fandom in pop music,” while USA Today said: “the foursome built the backbone of its first set on old-school material, expertly navigating hairpin changes and showing as much spunk as they ever have in this millennium.”

The band has already recorded demos of 20 new songs and will enter the studio in April to begin work on its new album with Steve Lillywhite (U2, Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band), who produced Phish’s 1996 album, Billy Breathes. The Clifford Ball, a seven-DVD box set from JEMP Records/Rhino capturing the band’s entire performance at this landmark 1996 festival, just debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Music Video chart.

Formed at the University of Vermont in 1983, the Grammy-nominated band was included in the Top 10 Grossing Concert Tours in North America from 1995-2000 and from 2002-2004. Phish has released 11 studio albums, six concert videos and a series of 44 complete live concert CDs, including 13 on its own JEMP Records. Its series of full concert downloads on livephish.com, the band’s digital download store, currently totals 91.

Tickets for Phish at Shoreline are on sale March 29th at 12 Noon at www.LiveNation.com, the Shoreline box office (between Noon and 2pm on the 29th) or charge by phone at 877-LYV-ONLY. Tickets are $49.50 for reserved seating and general admission plus applicable service charges.

Billy Joel and Elton John Announce 2 Bay Area Concerts

Billy Joel and Elton John
Face 2 Face

Two Shows

Saturday, November 14, 2009 – ORACLE Arena

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 – HP Pavilion

Tickets on sale Monday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m.

SAN FRANCISCO, Ca. – Billy Joel and Elton John, the most successful and longest-running concert pairing in pop history, will reunite for their Face 2 Face tour with two Bay Area shows on Saturday, November 14th at ORACLE Arena in Oakland and Tuesday, November 17th at HP Pavilion at San Jose. Showtime for both performances is 7:30pm. Billy and Elton open the concert with a series of duets, playing twin pianos and trading vocals. Each artist then performs a set with his own band. A grand finale brings the two superstars and their supporting musicians back together for a closing encore. This includes some of both Billy and Elton’s greatest hits along with an unpredictable selection of rock and roll classics.

Tickets for the two Bay Area performances will go on sale Monday, March 30 at 10:00 a.m. and will be available at Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets or by calling (800) 745-3000. There will be a limit of 6 (six) tickets per customer.

This will be Billy Joel and Elton John’s first performance together in the Bay Area since February of 2001.

"The great thing about performing with Elton is that he is such a good piano player and that makes me have to dig deep to keep up with him, not to mention I've got the best seat in the house-only one piano away from Elton John!” said Billy Joel.

“I love touring with Billy. I have the greatest respect for him and we’re such good friends,” Elton John said.

Concert dates announced this year for the Face 2 Face tour immediately sold-out and include two concerts at Toronto’s Air Canada Center, and multiple nights at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, Philadelphia’s Citizen Bank Ballpark, in addition to concerts in Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, and Tampa.

Billy and Elton last toured together in 2003 with 24 sellouts. According to Billboard Magazine the Face 2 Face tour starring Billy Joel and Elton John was “the most successful touring package of all time.”

"Taking this new tour around the world is a desire I've wanted to fulfill for sometime now, based on the tremendous response I received during the select few dates I have done internationally. To travel the globe and see beautiful places, while entertaining fans from every corner of the earth is massive. I promise tons of special surprises while looking forward to pushing myself very hard, performing around 100 shows over the next year, and in the process I hope to bank up some serious frequent flyer miles," said Cook.

After proving his star power in front of a combined live crowd of 70,000 people with two highly rated specials, “Vicious Circle” for HBO and “Rough Around the Edges” for Comedy Central, Cook has reinvented himself with ‘ISolated INcident’, where he shares his stand-up insights with a more intimate crowd. Now, he will once again entertain the masses in large venues on a worldwide scale.

Previously Cook created, directed and starred in HBO’s nine-part comedy documentary series, “Tourgasm” and wrote, executive produced and starred in “Vicious Circle,” a feature-length stand-up event.
